I try to have the shop open by mid-May, and stock it with country furniture-- as found, old-surface stuff, and the appropriate accessories.  I like to have things with as much local connection as possible: Bennington stoneware, 19th century Vermont furniture, and such. Shaker furniture and smalls from surrounding states share the space, along with English ceramics, hooked and braided rugs, small artworks, decorative cast iron, fancy Victorian wicker, and whatever else happens to catch my eye.
